Splitters Swamp Vineyards, Bolivia
Established in 1996, Splitters Swamp Vineyards is one of the founding members of the New England Wine Growers Association, now known as the New England Wine lndustry Association. Situated 35km south of Tenterfield, Splitters Swamp is nestled amongst grazing properties and spectacular granite outcrops of the Bolivia district of Northern NSW. The rich granite soil and cold winters, warm summers and summer rainfall produces a wonderful example of cool climate wines.
Current plantings total 1 hectare of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. Owner/producer, Ken Hutchison ("Hutcho") was a shearer/grazier for several decades before joining forces with his father Lloyd, who in 1996 decided to forge a new direction by establishing Splitters Swamp Vineyards.
ln 2001 to acknowledge Lloyd's vision and intriguing life story, the family released the Lloyd's Block range of wines in his honour. The foundation plantings on Lloyd's Block form the backbone of Splitters Swamp Vineyards which is a vital part of the new wine region NEW ENGLAND AUSTRALIA.
